Today's Newsletter: What’s the big secret?

My usual kneejerk reaction to concerns about student data and privacy reverts to the admittedly glib question of: “Who really cares about Johnny’s 2nd grade math scores anyway?” That being said, the topic is pressing for the edtech community and continues to populate the Tech&Learning news feeds. Education Week  takes a heard look at student privacy in a well reported piece that starts to parse the privacy policies of big edtech operations like Khan Academy, Edmodo, and Pearson. Cindy Ng gives an insightful analysis on the Veronis  blog. And Edsurge proposes some straightforward suggest for protections here. Am I wrong to feel this is much ado about nothing?
