More Common Core concerns popping up in the Tech&Learning news feeds last weekend. School board members in Utah are concerned about student data privacy. A group being formed in Georgia opposes standardization: “Common Core is the nail in the coffin for local control and parental control.” Even this editorial in the New York Times last week offers words of caution for the initiative: “The Education Department should give states the flexibility to refrain from penalizing schools or teachers based on the test data for at least a year, until an evaluation system for the Common Core is validated.
