CoSN releases Horizon Report: 2013 K-12 Edition Toolkit

The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today released The CoSN Horizon Report: 2013 K-12 Edition Toolkit at ISTE 2013 in San Antonio, TX. The Toolkit, which accompanies the New Media Consortium’s (NMC) recently released NMC Horizon Report > 2013 K-12 Edition, provides district technology leaders, policymakers and other key education stakeholders with insight and guidelines to facilitate a conversation on leveraging emerging technologies to advance 21st century teaching and learning. Now in its fourth edition, the Toolkit is available at no cost at www.cosn.org/horizon.

The Toolkit includes four components:

  • Presentation Template – an adaptable PowerPoint presentation providing an overview of the research-based report and its discussion of key trends, significant challenges and technologies that hold promise for K-12.
  • Discussion Facilitator’s Guide – a document to be used in conjunction with the Presentation Template, providing users with guiding questions to pose to school district or school system stakeholders to stimulate thinking about the technologies identified in the Report and other technologies of interest.
  • Discussion Activities – ideas to engage stakeholders to identify local instructional challenges, consider emerging technologies as solutions and develop action plans.
  • Feedback Form – a form to present to and then survey stakeholders; the form will capture key discoveries, questions and suggestions.
