Today’s EdNet conference here in Denver has an energy about it that reflects the growing popularity of education technology among the investment crowd. There is plenty of coverage of the phenomenon too. The Christian Science Monitor calls them edupreneurs: “[People] aiming to do something truly innovative: make education beneficial to students and profitable to investors.” Silicon Valley Business Insider reports on a recent MIT/Stanford Venture Lab event that identified one major challenge facing K-12 education startups: “Huge, established corporations in the education industry that have historically limited market openings for smaller competitors.” And this piece in the Atlantic points to MOOC developments.
