Today's Newsletter: LA iPad Fallout Begins

T&L newsfeeds were overtaken last night with news that L.A. Unified Superintendent John Deasy will resign today. From the LA Times: “During his 3 1/2 years at the helm, Deasy, 53, oversaw a continued rise in student performance during a period of financial cuts. But he could not overcome Election Day setbacks, poor relations with teachers and two back-to-back technology debacles.” Beyond continued thrashing of the now legendary iPad initiative, it seems like recent issues with a decades-long SIS development may have been the clincher . Hechinger Report sums up the moral of this story quite succinctly: “Classroom technology is here to stay, but it is important to choose wisely.” ~ Kevin Hogan
