Atlanta district implements information platform

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced it will be partnering with Forsyth County Schools (FCS) to implement the Pinpoint Integrated Education Suite. The Metro Atlanta district, with 35 schools, was one of only 12 public school districts out of the 49 organizations in the nation awarded an Investing in Innovation (i3) federal grant. HMH has committed to serve as the district's private partner, which will result in customized development and implementation of a personalized learning system to meet the goals of the grant.

Pinpoint is an integrated, district-wide information tool for educators. The platform connects all critical education components, from grading and attendance to professional development and analytics, in one suite of tools.

“We must move past the long-established delivery model of one-size-fits-all,” said Bailey Mitchell, Chief Technology and Information Officer, Forsyth County Schools. “This initiative recognizes the need to create an individualized learning environment with learning objects available to students based on learning styles, preferences and interests. We believe personalized learning will result in the greatest gains for our students.”

FCS is a trailblazing district in the “Bring Your Own Technology” (BYOT) movement. Schools and teachers throughout the district have increased student access to learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom by encouraging students to use their personal technology devices. The inclusion of Pinpoint into the school system is another step in the district’s desire to make personalized learning a reality.

“Our partnership with HMH will produce a transformational data system fueled with standards-based digital content, assessments, and real-time data resulting in game changing teaching and learning,” said Lissa Pijanowski, Associate Superintendent, Forsyth County Schools. “We must innovate to educate the 21st century learner.”

Pinpoint is a single sign-on, stay-on platform designed to turn data into ideas, standards into strategies and resources into results. The suite is flexible and customizable to meet current district needs and can also be modified to meet the needs of the future. Each module can be used independently or integrated into the full suite of tools.
