Are you tired of getting shrugs when you approach the subject of critiquing art, music or literature? This ARTSEDGE tipsheet offers ways to engage your students so you get them thinking critically and actually enjoying taking part in discussion. Be sure to establish criteria for evaluating that are basically the same for everything you are critiquing. An obvious, but often overlooked, tip is to give time for thinking before sharing.
