Muck and Brass: The Industrial Town

The Science Museum in London offers this multimedia presentation of the effects of the Industrial Revolution on the urban poor, their living conditions, working conditions, and the public health concerns as a result of the expansion of industrial centers in Great Britain in the 1800s. Contemporary drawings show soot-covered cities, the squalor of the slums, working conditions in mines and factories, and an interactive map showing the distribution of poverty and wealth in London. Each image contains a description, and the textual content is extensive. An extraordinary addition for your study of world history.
