North Carolina Adopts Coach for Mathematics Instruction

The North Carolina State Board of Education recommends instructional material by Triumph Learning, producer of K-12 texts and interactive digital tools. Department of Public Instruction for the Public Schools of North Carolina provided a list of recommended instructional material that the State Board of Education approved.

The list included Triumph Learning’s North Carolina Common Core Coach Mathematics for grades three through eight; North Carolina Common Core Support Coach, Foundational Mathematics, for grades three through eight; and Readiness for the Common Core for grades one through eight.

Common Core Coach is a curriculum that aims to add understanding and practice to Common Core standards and skills instruction. Teachers guide students to master skills with structured, targeted lessons. Concepts are introduced in multiple ways, and the program provides time for assessment, student collaboration, and independent practice of all concepts and skills. Support Coach provides targeted instruction for students who are struggling and need more foundational support. Readiness for the Common Core is an online platform that complements the Coach series, where teachers can access hundreds of leveled lessons, assessments with Common Core test items, interactive practice sessions, and a test generator.
